Hereford Roller Girls are celebrating after a successful day packing bags at Tesco.

Skaters and refs from Hereford Roller Girls (HRG) spent a Saturday afternoon in the Belmont store talking to shoppers and helping them pack their bags. Over four hours they raised £293 which will be spent on much needed new skates and equipment for the league.

HRG Team Captain, Dee Montague, took part in the bag pack and was delighted with the amount raised “We’ve been going strong as a team for over a year, and now have quite a few new people wanting to join us. We would love for them to come and give it a go, unfortunately we don’t have enough spare kit for them! We would like to thank Tesco for letting us spend the day with them, we are delighted with the money raised as we can now buy new skates and safety equipment to take on new members.”

Vice captain River FierceMinx who works at the Tesco Belmont store spent the day on her roller skates, and it’s not the first time she’s been to work in her skates either! The rest of the team stuck to comfortable shoes, but they were very happy to spend the day talking to people about their favourite subject, Roller Derby.

Look out for this feisty group of girls and guys, as you never know what they’ve got planned next!
